| Introduction | ||||
Canon's HF20 high definition camcorder, selling for £799, features 32GB internal flash memory and loads of extras. But all is not well in Canonville. Rather than simply build on its recent excellence, Canon retooled the HF20 with some new internals, and in the process, decimated the low light performance. Sure, it has great sharpness, but is that enough. Not hardly, we think. |

| Section | The Good | The Bad |
| Product Tour | Sleek design, not cramped |
The right side doesn't feel good |
| Colour & Noise Performance | Good colour accuracy |
Noise level a little too high |
| Motion & Resolution Performance | Very sharp images with high resolution (one of the best yet) |
A little bit of trailing and fuzziness |
| Low Light Performance | Decent low light colour accuracy |
High noise levels and abysmal low light sensitivity |
| Compression & Media | 32GB - plenty of space for recordings | MPEG 4 format is a pain to edit |
| Manual Controls | Great deal of image effects | Joystick for manual adjustments is a bit unwieldy, manual controls limited |
| Still Features | Lots of possible customisations and features for photos | Just 3.31 megapixels max for photos |
| Handling & Use | Lightweight, easily portable |
Difficult to hold |
| Playback & Connectivity | Plenty of ports and connections |
Location of HDMI and USB ports is bad |
| Audio & Other Features | Handy and of use:Pre-record |
Video snap is needless |
