JVC GZ-HM1January 7, 2010 –
This morning, JVC announced its 2010 lineup, including a new flagship camcorder: the Everio GZ-HM1. The HM1 borrows many features from last year's excellent GZ-HM400, while upgrading the sensor and stabilization system.

Improvements to the sensor come in the form of a 1/2.3-inch, 10.62-megapixel back-illuminated CMOS sensor. As with other camcorder manufacturers, JVC has incorporated a back-illuminated sensor in order to improve low light sensitivity. The high resolution of the sensor will also help out in the still photography department, enabling the HM1 to capture native 10-megapixel stills images.

The other major improvement this year comes in the form of an optical image stabilization system with Advanced Image Stabilizer. JVC anticipates that the Advanced Image Stabilizer will particularly reduce shake at wide angle.

The HM1 offers a handful of other unique shooting options, including time lapse recording (in intervals from one to 80 seconds) and high-speed recording.

The JVC Everio GZ-HM1 records full 1920 x 1080 video using the AVCHD format. All videos are recorded to 64GB of internal flash memory or removable SD/SDHC memory cards. This new flagship cam will hit retailers in March for an expected MSRP of $1199.95.
