Conclusion
Sony Bloggie Touch versus Picsio GC-WP10
• The GC-WP10 also has a 3-inch touch-screen, but its design is far worse than what you get on the Bloggie Touch.
• The GC-WP10's touch-screen is glitchy and not fully usable in record mode, unlike the screen on the Bloggie Touch.
• The Bloggie Touch has far less internal memory.
The GC-WP10 is the first JVC camcorder to feature a touch-screen LCD. Just like the Bloggie Touch, the screen on the GC-WP10 is 3-inches in size, but we found the interface to be sluggish and cumbersome (and the video frame only takes up a tiny portion of the screen during recording). Basically, we think JVC got the touchscreen interface wrong on the GC-WP10. It is slow to respond to touches and the camcorder doesn't make use of the entire screen during video recording. This interface isn't well thought out and it pales in comparison to the full-screen system in place on the Bloggie Touch.
The GC-WP10 does have a memory card slot, so you should take that into account when making your decision. The Bloggie relies entirely upon internal memory, whereas the Picsio allows you to take as much memory with you as you want, making the camcorder a lot more portable. The GC-WP10 has more features—including a time lapse function and iFrame recording—but we don't think that's enough to push it over the Sony, especially considering the Picsio's gimmicky, poorly designed LCD touchscreen.
The Bloggie Touch did better in our overall testing and Sony implemented the touch-screen system much better on the Bloggie Touch. We're hoping JVC is taking notes so they can improve.
