JVC Announces New GZ-HD620 in Japan
December 8, 2009 – Victor Company of Japan announced the release of the new Everio GZ-HD620, a high definition camcorder with a 1/4.1-inch, 3.32MP CMOS sensor and 30x optical zoom. The camcorder features a light body—weighing only 270g despite its 120GB internal hard drive. The HD620 announcement follows closely on the heels of three new standard definition camcorders announced by JVC last week.

Sanyo Announces iFrame-Compatible Camcorders: The VPC-HD2000A and VPC-FH1A
October 13, 2009 – Sanyo announced that it will release the VPC-HD2000A and VPC-FH1A in North America. These two high definition camcorders have been available since early this year, but have yet to see a wide release on this side of the globe. The HD2000A and FH1A will have the same exact specs as their previously released cousins, but with one extra feature: compatibility with iFrame, a "next-generation" video format developed by Apple to make video files smaller and easier to edit.

Second Generation Flip MinoHD released in the US
Today, Pure Digital announced the second-generation Flip MinoHD for release in the United States. Compared to the previous MinoHD, the new mini-camcorder has just a few notable changes, including a larger storage capacity (increased from 4GB to 8GB), a 2-inch LCD, better video software, and an HDMI output. Pure Digital will continue to offer the customisable surface design, as it does with all Mino camcorders.

Kodak Expands Ultracompact Line-up with New Zi8
This morning Kodak announced its third budget camcorder. As an upgrade of the earlier models, the Zi6 and the Zi1, the Zi8 has more features. It comes with a 2.5/inch LCD and image stabilisation. Additionally the Zi8 has face tracking and records videos in 1080p. The press release did not specify, however, if this means the ultracompact records 1440 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080).
