    New JVC Everio GZ-HD620 Released in Japan

    JVC GZ-HD620JVC Japan (Victor Company of Japan) has just announced its first high definition release for 2010: the new Everio GZ-HD620. In addition to the 1/4.1-inch CMOS sensor with 3.32MP, the HD camcorder features a 30x optical zoom. In spite of the big hard drive (120GB), the camcorder has a light weight of just 270g.
    This announcement follows up last week's revelation of three new standard definition camcorders from JVC:  the GZ-MG980, GZ-MS230, and GZ-MS210.

    Sanyo's VPC-HD2000A and VPC-FH1A support Apple's new Video Format iFrame

    19 October 2009 – Sanyo launched two new HD camcorders in the United States: the VPC-HD2000A and the VPC-FH1A. The vertically designed VPC-HD2000 and the traditional FH1 have been available in Europe since early this year, but not in North America. The new models will have the same specs as their predecessors, with only one difference: both the HD2000A and the FH1A, will support iFrame, Apple's new video format that makes video files smaller and easier to edit.

    Kodak Expands Ultracompact Line-up with New Zi8

    This morning Kodak announced its third budget camcorder. As an upgrade of the earlier models, the Zi6 and the Zi1, the Zi8 has more features. It comes with a 2.5/inch LCD and image stabilisation. Additionally the Zi8 has face tracking and records videos in 1080p. The press release did not specify, however, if this means the ultracompact records 1440 x 1080 or 1920 x 1080).

    Canon Japan With Two New HD Camcorders: the HF21 and HF S11

    Canon Japan announced two new camcorders today, the iVIS HF 21 and the iVIS HF S11, both AVCHD models filling out its HD line as mid-year updates. The HF S11, presumably the new flagship camcorder from Canon, features 64GB of internal flash memory, doubling that of the previously released HF S10.

    With Three New Camcorders Samsung Enters Flip Territory: HMX-U10, SMX-K40, and SMX-K45

    Samsung announced three new camcorders this morning, including the HMX-U10 (US$199 MSRP), an ultracompact budget model in the style of the Pure Digital Flip series. This marks a not-unexpected entry into the category, despite being crowded with competition from Sony, Kodak, Creative, RCA, and of course, Pure Digital. The HMX-U10 may be able to find a foothold by being the only one in this group to offer full 1920 x 1080 HD video.

    Panasonic Announces New HDC-HS350 Camcorder in Japan with 240GB Storage

    July 8, 2009 – Following in the footsteps of the flash memory HDC-TM350, announced in May, Panasonic has announced a new hard drive sibling, the HDC-HS350. It features 240GB storage for over 30 hours of video in the highest quality. Like the TM350, the new HS350 has a three 1/4.1-inch CMOS sensors, each with a gross pixel count of 305,000, a 12x optical zoom, and optical image stabilization.

    Sony Has Two New HD Flash Memory Camcorders – HDR-CX500 and HDR-CX520

    July was once a busy time of year for new camcorders, but today Sony announced just two models to add to its HD lineup. The new HDR-CX500V and HDR-CX520V are flash memory camcorders, offering 32GB and 64GB of internal memory, respectively.     New Panasonic Camcorders in Japan & Europe: HDC-TM30, HDC-TM350, HDC-TM10, HDC-TM10

    Across the globe, Panasonic announced four new camcorders. The U.K. can look forward to the HDC-TM10 and the HDC-SD10, touting a compact size. Japan, meanwhile, will receive the HDC-TM30 and HDC-TM350. The TM350 is a more feature-oriented model, offering 12x zoom and a three-CMOS sensor array, and a multi-function lens ring. The "TM" series of Panasonic camcorders premiered earlier this year, and stands for twin memory – those with both internal flash memory and memory cards.

    Pure Digital Launches Second-Gen Flip Ultra Camcorders

    Pure Digital announced today the release of a second generation of its Ultra series of camcorders. The Ultra, originally released in 2007, has been upgraded and expanded into two versions, a high definition, the Flip UltraHD, and a standard definition, the Flip UltraSD. Both new camcorders are considerably larger than the popular Flip Mino and MinoHD, though a lower price may be enough to make amends. The UltraSD retails for US$149 (MSRP) and the UItraHD for US$199 (MSRP), while the Minos run for US$179 and US$229 for the SD and HD models, respectively. The new Flip Ultras are available immediately.
